Leadership Collaboration
NCCTM is committed to strengthening mathematics education across North Carolina by investing in the people who lead this work. This includes district math specialists, math coaches, administrators who support math instruction, math department chairs, and other teacher leaders.
To deepen this commitment, NCCTM has launched a new leadership-focused committee dedicated to increasing support, connection, and learning opportunities for mathematics education leaders across the state.
This work is grounded in the belief that strong leadership systems are essential for sustaining high-quality mathematics teaching and learning in schools and districts.
Supporting Math Education Leaders Across North Carolina
What is the purpose of our Leadership Collaboration?
- Building community among math education leaders
- Supporting leaders navigating instructional, organizational, and policy challenges
- Creating spaces for shared learning and collective problem-solving
- Strengthening connections between local, district, and state-level leadership work
This effort is intentionally designed to serve district math specialists, math coaches, administrators who support math instruction, math department chairs, and other teacher leaders across North Carolina.
Connecting Leaders Across the State
Mathematics leadership can feel isolating, especially when navigating complex decisions or new initiatives. NCCTM is working to build stronger connections among math leaders across North Carolina by creating spaces where leaders can share questions, ideas, and resources with peers in other districts.
A statewide leadership listserv and collaboration network is currently in development and will be available to NCCTM members soon.
Connecting Leaders to NCSM
As a state affiliate, NCCTM is proud to be connected to NCSM, the national organization dedicated to supporting mathematics education leadership.
Through this Leadership Collaboration, NCCTM seeks to:
- Strengthen alignment with NCSM’s leadership priorities
- Expand access to leadership-focused learning opportunities
- Create clear pathways for leaders in North Carolina to engage with broader national conversations around mathematics leadership
