Disaster Relief

Hurricane Helene in September 2024 is the second event in recent state history where a natural disaster has impacted our schools. On November 13, 2024, NCCTM created the NCCTM Disaster Relief Fund in response to recent natural disasters and recovery efforts. The newly created fund establishes a structure that will allow NCCTM to provide support quickly to its affected members.

With this new benefit, members can apply for relief funds to be used for student needs that would allow them to continue to be successful in the classroom. NCCTM members and the community can also make contributions to this fund. All donations will go directly to NCCTM members who apply for disaster relief.

More details on applying for this grant are coming soon. Applications for this round will be open to NCCTM members that work within NC schools districts impacted by Hurricane Helene.

NCCTM Statement on Equitable Access to Quality Mathematics Instruction

Students need to experience mathematics in ways that allow them to be successful and that give them the power to change the world. This experience needs to be delivered with both excellence and equality while resonating with the lives of Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, and all marginalized peoples. Racism cannot be tolerated, and we as teachers must be vigilant that we do not tolerate nor contribute to racism, bias, hate, or violence in our classrooms.
